Honesty Hour: Benefits of the Blessing part two

That awkward moment when the blessing doesn't look or feel like what you planned.

I'll tell you this much; God has a funny way of working. He is so incredibly crafty and omnipresent that there is no way to outsmart Him, even when you are insanely witty. He is truly amazing.

I don't always feel that way, though...that trust thing, and since this is honesty hour, there are spaces where I and others have wondered if God forgot about his child. When His humorous mercy silences my laughter or when my anxiety swells because time is moving along, and I'm still in the presence of waiting.

But what happens when we think the line goes silent? What happens when our prayers don't get answered in the way of which we hoped?

I often evaluate how I feel in those moments, which are a range of emotions. Discarded, alone, confused because I thought I did my part and left wondering if there are any blessings left for me.

Friends, He is always working behind the scenes, even when we allow our unbelief to make us think otherwise. In part one of HH, I talked about how Romans 8:28 is a verse that we have to give more attention to on the outside of tangible expectations. While the start of it says, "all things are working together for the good of those who love Him," the latter portion states "for those who are the called according to His purpose."

Are you walking according to the Word of God or the word of you?

The progress of life does not work that way when we long for long term benefits. Sure, I bet you have a plan, one some uncanny that you can't even believe yourself. However, did you ever ask yourself if this is what God wants for you?

As much as we think we are in control of our own lives, we only play a small part, and that role is to be obedient and work to bring Him glory in all that we do. Now, to be real, growing to understand this was hard for me in some moments because obedience isn't always sexy or appealing. You are often called to do things that you:

A) never saw yourself doing

B) don't want to do

C) don't care to do

D) all of the above

And that's the tea on that.

But in all seriousness, you were never called to be perfect or called to live up to your expectations or the expectations of others; you are only called according to His purpose. There are blessings in the storehouse for you, but we can't rush God. Remember, He knows what's best, and He will give us things that are better than what we can hustle, work, and grind for.

The benefits of knowing that is a blessing within itself because what is for you, no one can take away. You...we are the only opposition that stands in between our next from God and where we are.
